The mission of Crusade for Christ is to reach the unreached for Christ, where possible through the local church of the various denominations. We also strive to challenge Christians to a closer walk with God and in so doing to obey the Great Commission of our Lord building up His Church. This vision is accomplished through the proclamation of the Word of God, in any form consistent with the Scriptures, including evangelistic and deeper life crusades, rural tent outreaches, church planting, farm ministries, camps or any other means and is an inter-denominational ministry to aid the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in reaching the unreached. Crusade for Christ has also developed and is running Bible schools, to train pastors, lay preachers and evangelists, in a form that is practical and compatible with the needs of the under-privileged majority of South Africans. Crusade for Christ also helps practically in the building of pastors houses and churches as the Lord enables and the work is carried out through such workers as the Lord provides - we have full-time, part-time, and voluntary workers. The work is supported by the Lord on faith principles and the area of service is predominantly in KwaZulu-Natal (including the heart of Zululand) and Transkei (now Eastern Cape - particularly in Pondoland) CRUSADE FOR CHRIST BOARD MEMBERS: Rev Mark Wesson, Mr Russell Wiles, Mr Arthur Wood, Mr Kevin Wood, Rev Richard Seku, Mr Quentin Elliott and Mr Owen Britz. BACKGROUND
Crusade for Christ was founded by Ron and Sally Wesson in 1975. Ron Wesson,
born in South Africa, is an ordained Baptist minister. Crusade for Christ is an interdenominational mission reaching mainly the Zulu, Xhosa and other peoples of KwaZulu-Natal, Pondoland and Transkei, South Africa. Ron lived in the U.K. and Australia before returning to South Africa in the early 1970's. Ron was a professional man (Chartered Quantity Surveyor) and has studied in the United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa. Crusade for Christ ministers amongst some of the poorest people in South Africa and has conducted crusades (often in tents) all over South Africa. They have also ministered in Mozambique, Brazil, Australia, Philippines, New Zealand, the U.S.A. and U.K. and countries in Africa, as well as having traveled widely to all the continents including ministering in the poorer areas of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, travelling amongst the Philippine Islands in an outrigger boat, living largely on rice and water. They are involved with helping the poor of Pondoland and Transkei at times living in the huts with the people, organizing help for the poor in building small churches, pastor's homes, etc. Crusade for Christ is a faith mission and takes no offerings owing to the poverty of the people. Crusade for Christ has helped to start three Zulu and Xhosa Bible Schools to train pastors and lay leaders in Transkei and KwaZulu-Natal. The workers of Crusade for Christare about twenty in number, (not including local teams of workers in the field). The Crusade for Christ workers include: Full-time and part-time evangelists, lecturers, interpreters and their wives, secretarial and Bible School staff, and a building and support team, as well as a number of voluntary helpers.
