Crusade for Christ was founded 30 years ago by Ron & Sally Wesson on the lower South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. Together with Alpheus & Janet Zama, Ron & Sally have conducted tent evangelism and Deeper Life campaigns for three decades. Ron & Sally's son Mark and his wife Carmen joined CFC in 2002 and continued the ministry of proclamation, with Mark directing the mission from 2004.
Twelve years ago, South Coast Bible School was established to equip converts coming out of the crusades. Keith Frew and Cherith Ross were instrumental in guiding the School through its initial years. Satellite schools were planted at Tylden near Queenstown, and at Empangeni in Zululand. Carl & Elma Brook joined SCBS in 2006 and, when Mark & Carmen moved away in 2008, were appointed co-directors of CFC. Since 2009, Jon & Genine Thomas from Shiloh Evangelical church have been SCBS principal and registrar respectively.
Looking ahead, CFC has a vision of holistic discipleship incorporating Head (Bible school), Heart (retreat) and Hands (evangelism). Together, we believe these aspects combine to train a believer to be what Jesus wants: a Disciple. As it is written in Isaiah 61:3 -
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of His splendour.
